Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society
Now Accepting Applications for the 2012 Writer in Residence

The Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society is now accepting applications for the spring 2012 Writer in Residence. The residency will run for a two-month period, March/April or April/May, (dates to be confirmed after selection).

The following commitments are required:

· A reading that introduces the author to members and the community
· Thirty (30) one-on-one manuscript critique sessions.
· Two (2) one day workshops (six hours)
· A reading to close the residency.

The successful candidate must be:

· A published author with teaching experience.
· Comfortable critiquing a variety of genres (prose, poetry, non-fiction)

Application Package should include:

· A cover letter introducing yourself and a short exposition on what would make you a good choice for the residency.
· Resume or CV listing publishing credits and teaching experience.
· Theme and outline for your proposed workshops.

Remuneration: The successful candidate will be paid $2500 for the two month commitment.

Applications will be accepted until midnight, January 31, 2011. A decision will be made on or before April 30, 2011. Applications sent by email will not be accepted.

Winter Semester Student Reading

Venue: Rose Room (main floor Alexandra Centre)

As the winter semester winds to a close, it's time to celebrate the accomplishments of this semesters students. Eight grueling weeks has passed, full of classes, workshops and weekend intensives. Come out and support the students who, for some, are reading to an audience for the first time. Guaranteed to be some laughter, maybe even a few tears.
